How does Location Rebel Academy help you make money?

Location Rebel Academy is a bundle of courses that aim to get you started working online.

Inside you’ll find courses on such topics as freelance writing, blogging, E-commerce, SEO, affiliate marketing, and how to create your own product.

From the sales page…

In Location Rebel Academy, we teach you broad skills that will be applicable no matter what. You can do freelance work and charge money for these skills. You can leverage them in your personal projects, or as most of you will do, you’ll do both.

One of the main ways they teach you how to make money is via freelance writing.

As Sean told me via email…

Making money via freelance writing is 100% the strongest part of LRA, and I think if you look at Freelance Writing blueprint and the How to Pitch course, we have some of the deepest, most applicable content out there. It simply works.

As a freelancer you would be running your own business. Clients would hire you to work on various projects.

Who is Location Rebel Academy for?

Location Rebel Academy sells itself as a platform for people new to making money online…

[You get] 14 simple, step-by-step business blueprints you can copy and paste to start generating income with skills like: SEO, copywriting, web development, design & advertising, project management, sales and more… (Even if you have no prior experience in any of the areas.)

This is right on point, IMO. The training is indeed tailored for people who are new to making money online.

Even if you don’t know what skill to start with as a freelancer, LRA will help you figure out which direction to go.

Does Sean Ogle have a good reputation?

Yes.

I’ve met Sean in person a couple of times and have always found him to be legit and down to earth. We have many friends and acquaintances in common, and I can’t recall ever hearing a bad word uttered against him.

Sean went through the transformation from an employee to an online entrepreneur many years ago, and launched Location Rebel Academy once he was earning a good income working for himself.

In the years since, I’ve heard lots of solid student success stories coming out of LRA.

Sean is also the man behind three well-respected blogs…

Below is a video from Sean’s YouTube channel so you can get a feel for his style…

Are Location Rebel Academy students getting results?

Browse through the official Location Rebel Academy websites and you’ll find no shortage of student testimonials…

I believe these are all legit success stories, but I’m also pretty sure they’re quite old. I suspect newer students are still getting results from following the training, but you wouldn’t know it from the marketing materials 😕

Also, the LRA sales page mentions that “it’s 100% up to date for 2021,” but I’m writing this part of the review in late 2022. There is still plenty of activity within the community though.

And fortunately, much of the training should remain relevant, as many of the skills it teaches are rather evergreen, especially the freelance writing stuff. If you sign up and put in the work, you should still get plenty of value.

How much does Location Rebel Academy cost?

For access to the Location Rebel Academy training, you have two options…

  • $749 one-time
  • 6 payments of $149

The latter adds up to a total price of $894.

You get lifetime access with either option.

Just keep in mind that you’ll likely need to put some extra money aside, primarily for website hosting. Sean notes that hosting can cost as little as $20 per month, at least in the beginning.

Location Rebel Academy Discount?

Sean has kindly set up a $50 discount offer for readers of this website.

Use the discount code EBIZFACTS at checkout and you’ll see the price reduced by $50.

Refund Policy

The course specifies a 30-day money-back guarantee…

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that not every course or community is a perfect fit for every person – but often the only way to know for sure is to try it out.

Because of that we offer a 30 day guarantee. If you join and decide it isn’t quite the right fit, or it’s not what you thought it would be, just email us and let us know why the course isn’t a fit for you and we’ll issue a prompt and full refund.

No hard feelings!

I haven’t seen anyone reporting issues getting a refund on their purchase, so you can rest easy with this guarantee.

How is Location Rebel Academy structured?

Here’s what the training looks like when you log in and open one of the lessons…

location rebel academy review training course page

The core training is split into 9 main modules:

  1. Welcome to Location Rebel Academy! (START HERE)
  2. The Location Rebel Steps to Success (Mindset Blueprint)
  3. The Complete Beginner’s Guide to Building a Lifestyle Business
  4. How to Become a Freelance Writer
  5. How to Start a Blog
  6. How to Pitch: The Ultimate Guide for Sending Emails that Get Responses
  7. Overcoming the Fear of Uncertainty
  8. Make Money Blogging: How to Build a Profitable Blog Around Your Passion
  9. Ultimate Sales Blueprint: How to Sell for People Who Hate Selling

Then there are several bonus modules:

  • Content to Copy: The Beginner’s Copywriting Guide to Profitable Funnels
  • Freelance Writing 12 Week Bootcamp
  • Hacking the High Life: How to Live Like a Millionaire (Even if You Aren’t One)
  • How to Become an SEO Freelancer
  • How to Get Started with Copywriting
  • How to Get Started with Technical Writing
  • LRA Monthly Mini Courses
  • LRA Office Hour Calls
  • The Business Structure Blueprint (Everything You Need to Know)

As you can see, there’s A LOT in there!

The majority of the lessons are in text format rather than video. I’m not a big fan of this due to the size of some lessons; they’d be easier to consume in video format, IMO. But I get that text lessons are easier for Sean to keep updated.

Also, as long as you have a module open, you can’t scroll through the list of its lessons in the sidebar without scrolling to the end of the lesson you’re in. I found this to be a nuisance with longer lessons.

Speaking of accessibility, I found the search function to be severely limited, as it only lets you look up modules by name. That makes it hard to refer back to a specific part of the training.

I also feel that the training could be more comprehensive. It covers many bases, but rarely goes into a lot of detail. Which is fine for giving you a broad understanding of many topics; just don’t expect LRA to turn you into an expert on anything in particular (except maybe freelance writing).

Sean himself sees the community aspect of the training as the best part…

The absolute most valuable part of Location Rebel Academy is the community it provides.

We have over 4,000 people just like you. People who have made a commitment to get more out of life. People who are willing to take a leap of faith to do it, and people who are eager to help and support anyone else pursuing the same path.

Indeed, the community is perhaps the strongest selling point of Location Rebel Academy. There are regular posts in there and pretty much every thread receives a response from Sean or his assistant Liz Froment.

A few things to like about Location Rebel Academy…

  • Most students seem to rate the course highly.
  • 30-day money-back guarantee.
  • Several courses in one, covers a lot of ground.
  • Sean Ogle is the real deal.
  • Realistic timeline.
  • Active and helpful community.

Red Flags 🚩

A few things about Location Rebel Academy that might give you pause…

  • Doesn’t go very deep on most topics; mainly covers the basics.
  • So much content it can be overwhelming, and not always easy to find your way around.
  • Some parts of the training could do with an update.

Other things you should know

  • You’ll find lots of bonuses within the training, such as older live calls, mini courses, and blueprints. There are also some handy downloads, including options like templates.

Should you join Location Rebel Academy?

If you’re already making good money online somehow, or you’re looking for a quick and easy way of doing so, you’ll likely be disappointed by Location Rebel Academy.

I’d say the course is best suited to those who are looking to start a freelance business, but don’t know which niche to go for. I believe you’ll find LRA especially valuable if you want to get into freelance writing.

Remember there is a 30-day money-back guarantee, so there’s little risk in giving it a try.

  • Courses are cut down to bite-sized lessons for easier assimilation.
  • Rather than using videos, lessons are written and must be read.

Location Rebel does exactly what it says it does

My background was desperately needing cash flow. I was thinking of doing e-commerce sites or building out affiliate sites, but the problem I faced was that there was no guarantee of early success.

Sean Ogle explained that freelance writing is a skill that anyone can deploy if done correctly and that will have you earning a few thousand in a couple of months. This suited me as a more concrete way of earning money since you are depending on your work ethic.

The course takes you through every step of the process to become a successful freelance writer without setting the expectations too high (like other courses do). I like the mindset courses to begin with as it sets the stage of what to expect and deals with all your negative limiting beliefs.

There are multiple paths to take in the course, either blogging, freelancing, copywriting, or SEO, but the main advice is to start earning an income with freelance writing first as there are fewer barriers to entry.

Before starting the course I had little confidence in my ability to earn decent money through writing but the course helped fix that. I only needed to complete a few of the modules before I saw success. The lessons I learned that were most useful to me were on networking for clients and how to create a great portfolio.

I did have to take a few jobs for very low pay but was able to use these as portfolio pieces to get higher-paying jobs. It’s all about setting milestones and stepping up the pay ladder. I have used the knowledge gained through this course to get consistent work in an agency that pays $1,600 per month which will rise to $2,420 in another month or two.

I’m very thankful to have come across this course. Just in a few months since I started I’m earning decent money and have the confidence to keep stepping up. Also, the community is great, it’s got a very helpful vibe and the support staff is always on hand for any questions.

Pros and Cons

  • Simplicity.
  • Realistic expectations.
  • Community.
  • Thought there would be more on "how to write", but there is enough. Plus, they recommend some more in-depth books on this.
  • There could be more information on how to get higher-paying clients.
  • There could be more on how to scale it into an agency.

Location Rebel is Worth Giving A Try

I purchased Location Rebel a few years ago but only recently started diving in. I am more impressed with the training, materials, and community than I remember. The blueprints have helped me feel more comfortable finding freelance clients.

Location Rebel has given me the confidence to start my own freelance writing business. There is so much training that it can be overwhelming, but take it one step at a time. For me, I realised that I know much more than I thought.

I’ve suggested this training to many people, and I recommend it to you. Add to all this a fantastic community, and I think I’ve gotten more than my money’s worth. Check out Sean’s YouTube videos to get a feel for his knowledge.

Going back over the years, I have messaged Sean many times. The best part is that he always responds. Liz has been a great support system as well. I’ve also connected with community members and could not be happier to be part of Location Rebel.

This course has helped me learn affiliate marketing, set up my business (I now have an LLC), different writing styles, marketing, how to price my services, and (as of last week) the confidence to leave my full-time job and pursue writing as my business!

Pros and Cons

  • Response to questions (customer service).
  • The amount of blueprints (courses) you can take.
  • The community.
  • There is a TON of information (a good thing but at first it was overwhelming).
  • The initial cost (but once you realize what you get, it's not bad).

Totally worth it

I took this course to learn more about freelance writing. And it was totally worth it. The course paid for itself after a few jobs.

And I received tons of value from the community inside. Although I think it’s not as active as it could be, especially related to shared gigs from other members. But overall everyone is helpful and supportive.

PS: I think the reason why I earned less than expected lies more with me than the product. I probably didn’t put as much effort into it as I should’ve. So I don’t think LR overpromises on anything. For the price, there’s lots of good education and experience behind it. I got what I put into it, essentially.

Pros and Cons

  • Honest help and actionable tasks.
  • Member forum could be more active.
